Weight Loss Medication Management

Medication Information

Weight loss medications. are not stimulant type medications. GLP-1 medications are indicated for long-term weight management for adults with BMI greater than 30, or 27 with at least one comorbidity. Both are in a class of drugs called GLP-1 agonists, which mimic a natural hormone that helps reduce food intake and appetite.

They will help you stay full longer and feel full faster resulting in smaller meals and stable blood sugars. In combination with a healthy diet and exercise, clinical studies show a 15-20% reduction in body weight over 24-72 weeks.

You will not qualify for this medication if your BMI is below 27.

These medications require a once-weekly injection and frequent follow-up with close monitoring for side effects and healthy weight loss.

These medications may be beneficial for adults who experience weight-related conditions such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol.
